Housing support
Student who live on campus are more likely to report higher satisfactory college experiences and therefore are more likely to persist and graduate. As such, we are committed to helping participants reduce the costs of living on campus.
Each year, we provide housing stipends to 16–20 students who live in our designated 4-bedroom apartments in the IU Indianapolis Riverwalk Apartments. In order to be eligible, you must complete the housing application with IU Indianapolis Housing and complete the SSS Housing Application. Applicants are interviewed and selected based on the quality of their application and interview. For more information, please connect with our office coordinator.
Emergency funding
We understand that life events happen while in college. Unexpected emergency situations can include trouble with transportation to school and/or work, sudden loss of income, or medical related situations. As a result, students may fall behind on utility bills, rent, or experience food insecurities.
We’re committed to supporting you if you experience such hardships. We encourage you to communicate with us when such situations occur. Students are often eligible to apply for emergency funding through TRIO SSS or other resources within the institution. For more information, please connect with our financial aid counselor.
Study abroad
Traveling abroad is one of the most impactful experiences a person can have in college. Students who travel abroad become better global citizens and are more likely to graduate. However, the costs of traveling abroad can be very cumbersome, which often discourages students from traveling abroad.
We understand this, and we want you to have the opportunity to study abroad. We offer help to participants to cover some of the costs related to traveling abroad through use of campus funding resources. These funds provide students like you with opportunities that otherwise may not be possible. Funding is based on the availability or resources and student’s financial aid eligibility.
